Happy Mothers' Day Means Staying in Bed Until 3PM

Well, I did get up a little bit. Here it is blow by blow.
Wake up at 6:00 AM to a kid yelling "Mommy I pooped!" Daddy went to change him and get him out of bed. Jr. insisted on coming in to see me and jump around on my giant belly (ouch!!!) and read me some books. Then his dad rescued me, took him out and fed him breakfast. Back to sleep until 8 and didn't get out of bed until 9. Jr. was back in bed with me showing me his trains and steaming up the window with his breath.

Got up, ate breakfast while Jr. "helped" his dad in the yard. Then got into the bath tub. Even a very fully bath tub barely is enough water to cover my butt and feet, but it felt good. Oh then here comes Jr. He wanted to see what his mommy was doing and then wanted to get in the tub with his mommy. Whatever, he was pretty sweet. He poured water on my belly with the kitchen ladle he had brought with him (???) and then just like that he was done and off to watch "iceboarding" videos with his dad in the basement.

Then there was lunch. Then Jr.'s nap. He passed out while his dad was in the middle of "Where The Wild Things Are" and has been sleeping ever since (as of this moment 3 hours). Of course I took this opportunity to crawl back into bed and read the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel (well novel may be a little too generous of a term). I did a load of laundry and wiped down the coffee table, but I am not going to busy myself with cleaning today.

Why am I so tired - well one I am large and in charge, two I have a rib out (why yes, it is as incredibly painful as it sounds) and I can't sleep for shit and three yesterday we hiked in the Prickly Pear Land Trust's Don't Fence Me In 5K dog hike. Or as Jr. tells it we won the race. Actually we came in second to last, we passed the very elderly couple in the flats, but none the less they clapped for us as we crossed the finish line in just over an hour. That included two breaking and entering pee breaks for me and a nice long chat with Betsy at the top of the hill. Not too shabby for how big and slow I am. I actually did pretty well and in fact did better than these two sporty/bitchy women on the uphill switchbacks. Jr. stayed in the stroller (and took a little snooze) the entire time while Daddy pushed and Selma had a WONDERFUL time. Oh and Daddy won a PRIZE! He won a backpack in a raffle, he was hoping for a double inflatable kayak because lord only knows we could use another boat around here.

We had a lovely lunch at the Irish Pub downtown and all took a 2 hour family nap. After that we finally planted the pansies all over the yard, so you could say that it is officially spring at the Coleman house - snow be dammed.

So far it has been quite the weekend, everything that I had hoped for. I told Ed, no flowers, no cards, just let me sleep in and have a nice mellow weekend and he delivered. So did Jr. Thank you both!
So, I hope that all of my mothers had just as wonderful of a day as I had. We love you so much!!! Thank you MIL and FIL for the wonderful mom's day message, it was so sweet! Mom, your real mom's day gift is coming, trust me, when it happens it happens. Sheree is my only mom I get to spend some time with today and she is getting a new raspberry plant that Jr. will end up eating all of the raspberries off of anyway.

And I hope that my mom friends have the day they imagined! This is for you to celebrate how hard you work to keep these little muffins alive, keep a house running, keep a daddy out of trouble and still find time to be a great friend. Cheers!
