Oh. My. God.

I went for a pre-natal massage tonight. I am not going to lie to you, it was the finest hour of my life.

This morning we saw the midwife. I will spare you the details, but Ed Jr. is head down and getting ready to come out.
Here I am at about 39 weeks pregnant.

In addition to practicing yoga to use during labor, we have been visualizing. I close my eyes and imagine Ed Jr. head down, facing backwards, umbilical cord between his legs in a beautifully clear bubble of amniotic fluid. I like to imagine him with red hair too. I have been imagining this so much that last night I had a dream very similar to my vision. In my dream his umbilical cord was wrapped around his leg, I carefully unwound it set it free and swiveled his head into place. His eyes were closed and he had straight brown hair.

Bob

Daddy put BOB together today.

Ed Jr. has some pretty sweet wheels thanks to Jr. and Chris. Thank you so much!

Cleopatra Frankenstein

Last night we dropped some food off at L&L's house and got to see the most precious baby girl in the whole wide world. Francesca (real name), er, Angel-Love (my choice), or Cleopatra Frankenstein (her father being funny, but just might stick if he isn't careful) was born on Easter after a pretty long labor. Her mom is looking pretty great and is so happy to have her little baby girl.

I was able to hold her forever and she slept the whole time. Even when sleeping she made the most amazing faces and charming noises I have ever seen/heard. Even the "breast milk poop" noise was pretty darn cute.

I was holding her and letting her feet and butt rest on my big belly, this was all pretty exciting for Ed Jr. He KICKED and wiggled the whole time. I think he knew that he was so close to seeing his girlfriend. Or it could be the cute baby hormones racing through my body that got him all fired up.

She was a little overdue so she is VERY strong and VERY healthy. She was lifting her head out of my hand. She has a very beautiful face, huge hands with long fingers and big feet (so I was told). I bet she is going to be a tall and strong girl. Ed Jr. had better watch himself. I seriously doubt she is going to take any of his flack.

Drop It Like Its Hot.

At 38 Weeks, little Ed Jr. headed south. Actually sometime last week, he felt lower, but our doctor confirmed on Monday that his head was down town. It is kind of nice because I have more room to breathe and more room to cram food.

We still have a long list of things to do before he comes, and time is running out, but at least we have some diapers now.

Can you tell that he is lower?
People keep asking me if I am uncomfortable. No, not too bad. He is a pretty good boy and I think all of the walking I have been doing plus pre-natal yoga helps out a ton.

Ed Jr.'s Future Girlfriends

This is one of my favorite photos from the shower. The three of us are pregnant, Linds is due 4 days ago, Jenkins is due in June, and they both have girls in their bellys.

I have enjoyed being pregnant with these two ladies and I will enjoy being a mother with them even more.

37 Weeks - Who is Counting Anyway?

So, by our count we are at 37 weeks. Less than one month until D-day. Due day.
Boy are they right about the little tushy swinging side to side - it is true, one morning I will wake up and it is sticking out of my belly on the right and the next day on the left. He is very active, but sleeps for long periods of time.

On other baby related news, the midwife liked our birth plan. This week is the hospital tour and we will be pre-registering.
Ed is reading away at the Bradley Method and I unpacked much of the baby shower loot in the nursery. Photos later, I promise. In the mean time, please enjoy this photo of me at 37 weeks in my psychedelic shirt.

It is also important to note that we had an awesome St. Patty's day. Ed made some delish corned beef and cabbage and potatoes. We had the Moogs over and played Sequence. Daddy was quite proud of his Irish cuisine skills. So was I.

Thank You!

I promise that we will be sending out real thank you notes to everyone soon, but we would just like to thank all of you for the sweet baby loot. Ed Jr. really will be the best dressed, swaddled and read to baby on the planet.

FIL - I know that you don't like Ms. Clinton, but when she said that it takes a village to raise a child, she is right. Luckily, Ed Jr. will have one of the finest and beautiful villages raising him. As you can see from the shower photos. . .

We have such a wonderful family and amazing friends. Thank you for all of your support.

Just one month

Today marks the one month deadline for Ed Jr. I am SO sure he will be born right on time. HA HA HA HA HA!

Seriously though, why is everyone at work so fixated on my due date?

One woman asked me when I was going to start maternity leave. What do you say to that?

Another woman told me that EVERYONE has been asking her when I was due and she just needed to know.

I am so very tempted to tell them "I don't know, sometime in September." or "Um, I am not pregnant, I just ate a huge burrito! It was so delicious!"

One of my male coworkers pointed at my belly this morning and said "Now this is looking serious!" I said "Are you talking about my shoes?" Secretly hoping they were still on my feet since it is hard to visually verify.

What to Pack?

I have read a ton on what to pack for the hospital.

Here are two lists I like. Binsi list. What to Expect List.

Does anyone have any helpful hints for me to add to the list? For sure, my list will include my bolster and my yoga/birth ball.

We are still on the fence about what kind of music to bring to play at the hospital. Ed voted for Grateful Dead. I vetoed. Mom voted for Vivaldi. I vetoed. I better get on my iPod and make a mix.

36 Weeks

For our first day of our 36th week we went fishing. When I put my fly rod away this time, I told him that I didn't know when I would see him again. Hopefully this summer. My mom said that she would watch the baby while we go fishing.

La Leche League

Yesterday I joined La Leche League. As a bonus from my membership dues - I saved $1.70 on my own copy of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. Jenkins got her copy used for $7. Mine was a little bit more, even with the savings.

The money isn't important, what is important is this marks the second generation of La Leche League membership in my family. My mom was a member when I was a baby. I actually have a vague remembrance of her Le Leche League friends.

My favorite part of the meeting was the six month old who sat next to me and flirted with me during the entire meeting. He was the best boy you have ever seen.

On another note - during the last MT legislative session Carol Williams (who is completely awesome) got a law passed that requires that government to allow a private space, other than a toilet stall, for a mother to pump milk. I will be very curious to see where they try to cram us in this building. Here is an article.

A Baby Shower for Men

I suggested this to Daddy Coleman early on. He just rolled his eyes and chalked it up to my hormonal imbalance. I thought it was only fair since we are going to try to raise Ed Jr. in a sexism free household. Why press gender biases onto his first big party?

I think it sounds fun, plus the column is pretty damn funny. Baby Showers and the Modern Man.

He could have registered for all kinds of cool "dude-esque" baby stuff, eaten beer brats, chugged beers and chuckled about how hard it is to be male in the pregnancy dome.

On another note - the nurse at the Dr.'s office on Monday told Baby Daddy how awesome he was for coming to EVERY appointment I have. He is awesome.

*Chatter Free Registry*

I have posted so much that the first few entries have been archived. Here are links to all of the posts with registry items. The rest is just baby chatter.

35 Weeks!

According to my count and What 2 Expect When You are Expecting, we are 35 weeks along. According to our family Dr. we are 34 weeks along. According to the midwife we are 33 weeks along. I actually prefer the midwife's estimate because that means Ed Jr. has longer to try to come out without fear of induction.

We sat through childbirth education class tonight. I loved the pediatrician who talked, but the OB who came to talk was the same dude we dumped. Turns out, he has the same "scare the crap out of you" speech whether you are his patient or just happen upon him in a childbirth class.
